Real Local Beekeepers, Not a Lead-Gen Site

Been's Bees is owner-operated by Justin Jacobeen, a 10-year working beekeeper based in Hummelstown PA. We do live honeybee removal, swarm collection, beekeeping education, raw local honey, and beekeeping supplies across Central PA.

Every colony we collect goes to one of our apiaries in Central PA — not to a third party, not to a contractor network. The person who answers the phone is the person who'll be on your roof.

We're committed to sustainable beekeeping. We don't kill bees, we don't spray chemicals, and we produce honey free of synthetic miticides. We'd rather lose a call than send a customer to the wrong specialist.

Hours: Mon–Sat 7am–9pm · Sun 9am–6pm. We respond same-day to most inquiries during these hours, and texts at any time.

Address: 670 Swatara Street, Hummelstown PA 17036.

Trusted Partners

Beekeeping isn't a one-business job. We work with a small network of local specialists who handle the things we don't — pest control, wasps, lawn care — so when a customer calls about something outside our specialty, we can route them to someone who'll do it right. These are real partnerships, not paid referrals or affiliate placements; we don't get paid to recommend anyone listed here.

Pest Control & Stinging Insects

Lawns Plants & Pests LLC

Harrisburg, PA · serving Central PA

When you call us about wasps, yellow-jackets, hornets, or other non-honeybee stinging insects that need chemical treatment, this is who we send you to. Run by Devon Alleman, a long-time local who used to handle honeybee removal himself before passing that side of the work to us.

What they handle that we don't

  • Yellow-jacket and ground-nest wasp control
  • Hornet nest removal (paper wasps, bald-faced hornets, etc.)
  • Carpenter bee treatment (the wood-boring kind — not honeybees)
  • Other non-honeybee stinging insects requiring chemical application
  • Lawn care and plant pest applications

Why we partner

We're beekeepers — we don't kill bees, and we don't spray pests. Devon has the license, equipment, and experience for the chemical-treatment work. He sends us honeybees, we send him wasps. Customers always end up with the right specialist.

Beekeepers You Might Meet On a Job

Local beekeepers who volunteer alongside us on cutouts and swarm collections.

Volunteer Beekeeper

Ian West

Hummelstown, PA

A local hobbyist beekeeper who keeps his own hives in Hummelstown, Ian volunteers with us on cutouts and swarm collections. If you call about a wall removal or a swarm, he may be the second beekeeper on the job — same equipment, same care.

Why this matters

Wall removals and busy swarm season days go faster and cleaner with two beekeepers on the job. Ian rides along with us so we can keep response times short for the next call.

Backup Beekeeper

Devon Alleman

Central PA

Devon ran honeybee removal himself for years before passing that side of the work to us. He still has the gear and the experience — on busy days or jobs that need a second beekeeper, you may meet Devon on the call. He's also our partner on the wasp/hornet/lawn side (see Lawns Plants & Pests above).

Why this matters

Devon's history with honeybee removal means he can step in when we're stretched, and customers get an experienced beekeeper instead of a contractor. Same network, two hats.

How Our Partner Network Works

Real beekeepers operate as a small local network — we pass leads to each other based on who's the right fit, not based on who pays the most. If you call us about a job that's outside our specialty, we'll either tell you who handles it or connect you directly. No middleman, no markup, no “we'll send a contractor” language.

That's the difference between a real beekeeper and a lead-generation website that markets itself as one. We'd rather lose the call than send you to the wrong person.
